Laura, a loving woman, excited to adopt a child

HELLO! I AM excited to begin this journey with you!

THANK YOU for taking time to get to know me as a potential adoptive parent. I admire the strength, love, and courage you possess in considering adoption. I hope to be a part of your support system as we engage in this journey together. Your child will know adoption is an act of selfless, unconditional love.

Having a child has been a life-long dream, and I promise your child will be loved and respected, while honoring your courage and bravery. I hope to learn about your hopes and dreams for your child and will nurture this important bond.

I WILL TEACH MY CHILD:

  • Be involved with service activities from the time he/she is little

  • Be comfortable and interactive with people with disabilities

  • Craft and create their own personal hobbies

  • Be kind and empathetic

  • Find enjoyment in music and dance

MY STORY, THIS IS MY LIFE

My journey in becoming a mother is filled with understanding, commitment, and spirituality. My parents instilled the importance of giving- not just financially, but also through my time and talents. I have been a foster care provider for three years and over time have welcomed 20 short-term foster children into my home, currently raising one special child for over a year. This experience has taught me the immeasurable depth of love a mother has for her child, no matter the path of motherhood. Fostering has helped shape me into who I am today, and I am eager to share this perspective with my future child.

MY WORK: I AM A PEDIATRIC OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST and work in a public school district. Working with children with disabilities gives me invaluable insight into my purpose in life, keeps things in perspective, and reinforces my personal values.

GETTING TO KNOW ME

I am a confident, compassionate, and open-minded single woman with no children. I have a dependable, loving network of family and friends who support me in adopting and raising a child. With an open heart, strong spirit, and unwavering commitment, I am dedicated to ensuring a nurturing environment for your child to thrive developmentally and emotionally. I experience joy in meaningful relationships including my loyal friends and two former respite foster children who are now my godsons.

My friend, Jayme: “When Laura is passionate about something, she puts everything she has into it and sees it through no matter how hard things are. She stays strong to her values and morals, but is always willing to try new things and experiences.”

MY VILLAGE

My parents, married 41 years, are always there for me, ready to lend a hand. They always make family a priority. When I bought my home, my dad helped with home improvements, including making a raised garden bed and staining my staircase. My mom loves to volunteer and decorate, making a house a home. My parents still live in the rural town where I grew up. My sister and I have fond memories of walks in the timber and fishing on our family-owned farm. We are excited to share these same experiences with my child.

THERE’s NO PLACE LIKE HOME

I live in a safe, friendly neighborhood on a cul-de-sac. My home has a large fenced in backyard and is within walking distance to the nearest elementary school. The school district is the top rated in the state and the district where I work. There is a great sense of community when running into friends, co-workers, and students’ families at the grocery store, parks, or Target. My neighborhood is close to several scenic trails, shopping centers, and hospitals. It’s just a 10 minute drive to a small lake, golf course, and a community recreation center. Close by is a bustling farmers market on Saturdays in the spring and fall. I look forward to teaching my future child how to swim, ride a bike, and play a recreational sport. I am so grateful to start a family in such an incredible place.

What I love to do for fun

HOME RENOVATION PROJECTS: Much of my family time with my parents involves working together doing home renovation projects. We are always painting, installing, or planting something together. My home projects are the perfect opportunity for my family to collectively use our creativity.

WALKING OUTDOORS: My dog, Henry, and I go for frequent walks around my  neighborhood and local parks. Henry loves when I dog sit and take him for walks with his furry friends.

SEWING AND CRAFTING: I am always thinking about a new craft and find crafting very relaxing. I enjoy admiring the finished product. I often donate proceeds from crafts to local child and animal welfare organizations.

THANK YOU!

The courage, strength, and self sacrifice it takes to do what you are doing at this time is truly remarkable! I cannot imagine how difficult it must be to choose the person you believe will give your child the best life possible. I hope I’ve expressed myself in a way that shows who I am, the environment in which I live and work, and the people I am surrounded by.

I am certain I am ready to commit my heart, soul, and life to your child. Thank you for considering adoption and for taking the time to learn more about me. I promise to love your child today and forever.
