KRISTIN

Kristin, a loving woman, hoping to adopt a child.

Somewhere in this big, big world our paths are crossing!

While we don’t yet know what the future holds, I believe we’re learning about each other for a reason. We haven’t spoken, but I do know your journey is uniquely yours and it’s a deeply personal, loving, and courageous one. I promise to honor you and your love always, no matter where this path takes us.

Your child will be so deeply loved. I will support your child’s dreams, passions, and sacred gifts. I will love this child for who they are. I will push the swing at the park, ride bikes and shoot basketballs, hold hands while we dip our feet into the warm ocean water, sit in the first row of every school play, decorate cookies just because, climb the trees in our backyard, teach my famous chicken casserole and cinnamon cookie recipes, travel the world hand-in-hand wearing our backpacks and carrying our passports stamped with every adventure, dance to soulful music in the kitchen, get dirty in the garden and the sandbox, decorate our walls with the little drawings and watercolor paintings, kiss every boo-boo, choose new books every Saturday at the library down the street, give big hugs and kisses, and support every dream in your child’s heart.

Since I was a young girl, I knew I would adopt a child. I didn’t know when, where, or why, but I just knew.

MY TRADITIONs AND RITUALS:

  • Early morning walks with my pup Evey

  • Reading at night

  • Setting the table with my grandmother’s dishes

  • Big Sunday lunches

  • Gardening on the first day of spring

  • Making cheese dip on Christmas Eve while we cuddle up in pajamas

About me

I LOVE TO MOVE. Swimming, cycling, hiking, yoga, long walks. A day isn’t complete unless my body has felt alive. I eat healthy to keep my energy high, but I also have a sweet-tooth. Chocolate and peanut butter ice cream is hands-down my favorite.

Travel fills my heart with joy, and I want to share these adventures with your child.  I’ve spent time on six continents, in many countries, and especially love Italy, Morroco, Vietnam, Spain, Argentina, and Bali. I’ve climbed volcanoes at 2am to see the sunrise.  I’ve bicycled through rice fields and remote villages, hiked mountains, and swam in chilly oceans.

MY WORK: I HAVE THE MOST MEANINGFUL JOB ON THE PLANET. I started three schools to serve children and families who haven’t been given the opportunities they deserve. My organization serves predominantly families of color, children from low-income backgrounds, immigrant and refugee students from Africa to Latin America, as well as students with disabilities. While most of our children begin school behind in reading and math, I’m so proud to share that 100% our high school graduates are in college and have received over $9 million in scholarships.

I have incredible flexibility at work and can set my own schedule. I’ll have 6-months of maternity leave and many school breaks every year for vacations.  I’ve even started a top-notch licensed childcare center on my school’s campus (just ten steps from my office!). I already have space reserved for your child.

MY LOVED ONES

I’m super close with my immediate and extended family.  We talk several times a week, if not every day, and we spend hours laughing...hours!  My younger brother and I especially – we can just look at each other and laugh until we cry.

We stay active, exercising together at the gym, running, riding bikes, and swimming in my brother’s pool.  All my family is within driving distance! We love food – all food.  Most of our time together is centered around meals or visits to our favorite restaurants, especially our favorite Mexican and Italian spots. You’ll also find us at home using Nana’s favorite recipes for biscuits and gravy, homemade spaghetti sauce, and baked apples.

THERE’s NO PLACE LIKE HOME

I live right in the middle of Tennessee. Beautiful trees line my street. I’ve owned my home for ten years and feel blessed to live in one of the most desirable neighborhoods with award-winning and diverse schools. Within walking distance are four parks, two elementary schools, colorful little shops, groceries, and restaurants.

I love my city which is known for great music and its welcoming, friendly, diverse and vibrant spirit. We are located in the hills, which is breath-taking, and have every season. I love being outside, feeling the warm sun on my face, and hiking through a canopy of trees.

Values that are important to me

  • I believe every human being deserves love. I believe in second chances, fresh starts, following your dreams and listening to your instincts.  I believe you can speak your truth and listen openly to others.  I believe in showing up.

  • I value equity – we all deserve the same rights and opportunities. I value education – every child deserves only the best.  I value faith, and while you can go to church, I believe you can find God anywhere. I believe love makes a family.

  • I value being brave and loving hard.

  • I value laughter and adventure.

  • These are all values and beliefs I will teach your child.
