HELLO! WE ARE COURTNEY AND DAVE, A KINDERGARTEN TEACHER AND ARMY VETERAN, AUTHOR AND STAY-AT-HOME DAD.

We are ecstatic for the chance to grow our family! We have a strong support system in place and can’t wait to be parents together! We are confident in who we are and what we can provide in raising a child: a life filled with love, stability, creativity, and adventures. We’re seeking a semi-open adoption that’s respectful of all. Courtney’s mom is an adoptee and we understand what a blessing adoption is. We are grateful for your consideration and thank you for giving us a closer look.

About Us

We met online when Dave was stationed at Ft. Leavenworth and I was a teacher in a nearby district. Our first date was at Mimi’s Cafe, where we spent 3 hours talking and giggling about an over-the-top reaction to being served raw pancakes. (Truly, it was not a big deal but the manager insisted on bringing us a bounty of extra muffins.) Our conversation felt so natural and easy! After being married since 2012, we can honestly say we are each other’s best friend and there’s no one else we’d rather share the ups and downs of life with. Mental health care and showing up for each other is a priority. We have been trying to grow our family since settling into our home in 2014.

Our home has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and sits on a few acres just outside of Kansas City. We live on a quiet cul-de-sac with 5 other homes. In the back yard, there is a lake, garden boxes and fruit trellises we built, a greenhouse, and beautiful flowers we’ve planted over the years. We relax out on the deck with our pups, family, and friends and soak up the countryside. We put up a string of patio lights that can be programmed to change colors and adds to the cozy festivity at night! We see gorgeous sunrises, sunsets, the stars and all 4 seasons in the country! We chose to make our home here because it is peaceful, safe, within 30 minutes of our family, has easy access to KC, great schools, and plenty of space for playing and making memories. This is where we grow!

Our support system is solid! Our parents live nearby and are retired but active. Courtney’s parents are high school sweethearts who have been together over 50 years! We are close with our older brothers and their families. It’s always a memorable time with lots of laughs and gathering in the kitchen when we get together. Our family and friends come together for holidays, birthdays, BBQs, vacations, and game nights. We’ve even had a family reunion for our dogs! Many of our friendships began in early childhood and have continued to this day. Nurturing relationships is really important to us. “Our people” are excited to be a part of our future child’s life!

OUR CHILDREN: Dave became a father at age 22; my instincts tell me he’ll be even more of a natural this time! I have adored working with children for more than 20 years and always dreamed of being a momma. We have 4 angel babies. It means the world to us to bring a child into our hearts, home and family!

What we love to do for fun

Cooking, taking cooking classes, seeing concerts, comedians, and adventure date days are our shared interests. We set aside Saturdays to explore local small businesses, restaurants, museums, festivals and farmer’s markets. Dave is passionate about history and collects Army Quartermaster insignia; Courtney has fun crafting and baking. We also like to play in the dirt! We grow all kinds of flowers, fruits and vegetables in our gardens and inherited a greenhouse from Courtney’s grandma, so we’re always learning new things. We are Aunt Court and Uncle Dave to our niece and 4 nephews. We enjoy our time together and cheering them on as they grow up. We can’t wait to see what interests our future child! We will encourage curiosity and not rush them through childhood.
